Tutorial: I am studying a gene in M. tb. H37Rv. How do I find its ortholog in another strain?
Let's say you are studying DosR (Rv3133c). You want to see how well conserved it is in M. tb. and other mycobacterial strains.
1. First, do a basic search on 'DosR' or 'Rv3133c' and find the appropriate gene detail page.
Notice a category 'Gene Family' in the results. Click this link.
2. This will bring you to a tree depiction of the orthologs for that gene in TBDB.
The tree is derived from a multiple sequence alignment, shown below.
You can click on the tabs to see other views of the alignment such as the coding sequences, transcripts, and up/downstream sequences.
